The university has high quality laboratory facilities for the study of HIV, TB, and malaria where students interested in infectious disease research may work. Medical students may participate in clinical rotations at one of two tertiary-care medical facilities while in Dakar. Fann Hospital and Hospital le Dantec are Cheikh Anta Diop University’s two teaching hospitals. Fourth-year visiting students may also have the opportunity to visit municipal medical facilities outside of the center of Dakar for short periods of time (1-3 days) where they may participate in primary care rotations.
Accommodations: While Université Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar has over 60,000 students it has only 5,000 dormitories and there is much competition for these spaces among the university’s full-time students.
