Claudia Hawkins, MD, MPH, DTM&H, is an Assistant Professor at the Feinberg School of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases and the Center for Global Health. Dr. Hawkins is a specialist in Infectious Diseases with clinical, teaching and research interests in HIV in both developed and developing countries.
Dr. Hawkins has worked previously in Kenya and Nigeria on internationally funded HIV Care and Treatment programs facilitating HIV trainings and collaborating on research studies in HIV drug resistance and HIV/Hepatitis B co-infection. She is currently the Clinical Director of the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences-Dar City-Harvard School of Public Health (MDH) PEPFAR supported HIV Care and Treatment program in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania where she oversees clinical and educational activities. She collaborates on several research projects in Tanzania in the following focus areas: HIV/Hepatitis co-infection, HIV drug resistance, antiretroviral treatment outcomes, non-communicable diseases (NCD’s), and qualitative studies of patient and healthcare worker satisfaction.
