About the Center for Global Health
About
The Center for Global Health (CGH) was established in March 2009 as Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine recognized a need for such a Center to coordinate all of the global health activities that had been undertaken at the university.
Mission
The Center for Global Health's mission is to implement research and educational programs, both in the U.S. and abroad, to strengthen the knowledge base around issues pertaining to global health. Improvement in global health will improve health for all citizens of the world.
Strategy
The strategies by which the Center for Global Health intends to achieve its mission are three-fold:
- Identify and implement research and educational training programs in low and middle income countries (LMICs) that will strengthen the infrastructure and optimize care for life-threatening conditions such as AIDS, tuberculosis, infectious diseases, cancer, injury and cardiovascular/metabolic diseases.
- Coordinate and support the efforts of the Northwestern University faculty, fellows, residents and students, along with its international partners in implementing collaborative research studies and training opportunities that reflect a global approach to complex and shared medical needs.
- Raise public awareness about issues pertaining to global health.
