Feinberg Travel Grant
Feinberg School of Medicine provides travel grants to medical students to offset the costs of travel in order to help them participate in and complete rotations at universities and medical clinics where the medical school has formal agreements and affiliations. These grants are meant to complement the awards given out via the Global Health Initiative, as those funds are restricted to rotations and global health education programs in low- and medium-income countries. The Feinberg Travel Grant is available to students who wish to complete rotations at the following partner universities only:
- Peking University - Beijing, China
- Chariteé Universitatsmedizin Berlin - Berlin, Germany
- Karolinska Institute - Stockholm, Sweden
- Keio University - Tokyo, Japan
- Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland - Waterford, Ireland
- Tel Aviv University - Tel Aviv, Israel
- Trinity College Dublin - Dublin, Ireland
- Université de Strasbourg - Strasbourg, France
Any Feinberg medical student in good academic standing who wishes to complete a rotation at one of the partner institutions listed above may apply. The award is not available to Feinberg students who wish to travel independently to unaffiliated institutions for a global health education project or rotation. Feinberg students may not combine funding from the grant if they have already received funding from the Global Health Initiative, International Health Fellowship, the Public Health Program or any other Feinberg funding source. Awards range in size from $1,000 to $2,000. These awards amounts are standard for all eligible partners. Students are eligible for a total of one award among either the Feinberg Travel Grant or the International Health Fellowship over their careers at the medical school.
The award is contingent upon each student's satisfactory participation in the medical school's required pre-departure preparation and evaluation process developed by the Institute for Global Health. Failure to actively participate in and complete the pre-departure preparation process can result in revocation of the award and possible cancellation of the away-rotation.
How to Apply
The funding application is available to students who have been approved for rotations by the Institute for Global Health, through the Feinberg Global Health Elective Canvas course.
This is a rolling application deadline, however, students should apply at least 60 to 90 days ahead of their rotation start date.
