This award was made possible by the generous donation from Richard and Susan Kiphart to fund junior faculty members with innovative global health research. Each award was $25,000 and applicants were strongly encouraged to submit proposals to build additional research capacity at institutions in lower and middle-income countries. The application required at least one investigator from Northwestern University with an affiliation at the Center for Global Health along with one investigator from an institution in a low and middle-income settings. This award was given in the spring of 2015 and projects were completed within the following year.
